Homemade Hummus

I probably won’t buy hummus for a really, really long time – that’s how many cans of chickpeas I have to use up right now…

I made it tonight to top our spicy sliders we had for dinner. Simple and tasty. And here are 5 Health Benefits of Hummus you might not know.


1- 16 ounce can of chickpeas

3-5 Tbsp. of lemon juice ( I used 5 and next time will use 3 to make it thicker but whatever consistency you like best…)

1 and 1/2 Tbsp. tahini (sesame seeds)

1- clove garlic, minced

1/2 tsp. – salt

2- Tbsp olive oil


Drain chickpeas

Throw all ingredients together in a food processor and mix well

Garnish with extra olive oil in the middle and pine nuts, parsley, sun dried tomatoes, anything you’d like, even cayenne pepper if you like it hot. Serve with warmed pita or veggies to dip.
