I had strawberries this way back in 1999 at a sidewalk cafe in Cancun. I loved them so much I asked for the recipe and have been making them ever since. Yum!
A big ole honkin slice of angel food cake, store bought or homemade
2 cups strawberries, cleaned and sliced
1/4 packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
Mix the sugar and vinegar in small bowl until sugar dissolves. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes. (As you can see I hurried my process a little and had a bit more liquid. Still yum, but better if you let it stand.)
Add your strawberries and stir well
Spoon over plated cake and serve with a side of organic, fat-free vanilla yogurt for a summer treat!
