I guess I never gave it much thought as to how brussel sprouts grow, but when I found them on the stalk at Trader Joe’s this past summer, I was amazed! I made them with my usual recipe here, until tonight…
With the use of maple syrup and dried cranberries, I think this would be a great side dish for Thanksgiving or anytime. I made it with chicken and it was delicious. Hope you enjoy.
Ingredients:
1 – Trader Joe’s Brussel Sprouts on a Stalk
3/4 – cup maple syrup
1/4 – cup olive oil
Fresh ground pepper to taste
Fresh ground sea salt
Garnish with dried cranberries or pomegranate seeds
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Trim stalk of any unsightly parts
Rinse stalk in cold water
Wrap in cling wrap and microwave for 4-5 minutes in High. (I had to cut the stalk in half to fit in my microwave.)
Whisk maple syrup and olive oil together
Place stalk on roasting pan. With a plastic basting brush, baste the sprouts well. Then pour the rest of the maple syrup mixture over top.
Season to taste with salt and pepper
Roast for 45 minutes until sprouts are fork tender
To serve: Sprinkle with dried cranberries or pomegranate seeds.
