The Elvis Presley: Banana Nut Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting

I'm all Shook Up... Uh Huh, Uh Huh!

It’s said that Elvis Presley loved peanut butter and banana sandwiches. For that reason, I named this cake, “The Elvis Presley” after him. I think he would have approved.

I got this out of a very old recipe book my husband bought that was put together by nursing home residents. – If you like warm banana bread, and peanut butter you will love this cake! Serve warm.


2- 1/3 cup of all purpose flour

1- 2/3 cup sugar

1- 1/4 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2-1/2 medium sized bananas)

2/3 cup butter/margarine, softened

2/3 cup finely chopped nuts

2/3 cup buttermilk

1- 1/4 tsp. baking soda

1- 1/4 tsp. baking powder

3/4 tsp. salt

3 eggs


Heat oven to 350 degrees

Grease bottom of a 13X9 cake pan and coat lightly with flour

Beat all the ingredients together and pour in cake pan

Bake for 45-50 minutes

Cool for 10 minutes to 1 hour


1/3 cup peanut butter

3 cups of powdered sugar

1- 1/2 tsp. vanilla

1/4- 1/3 cup milk

Beat all ingredients together and beat with mixer until smooth and creamy. Spread on top and serve! Don’t be cruel and not share!
